The Greenway Soirée is a small, annual fundraising dinner to raise money for the Wolf River Conservancy. Each ticket to this nighttime event by the river is an affordable $100. Guests enjoy dinner under the starts while watching live bluegrass music and participating in a silent auction. The direction for this art is inspired by the atmosphere design of the event which includes handcrafted wooden chairs and haystacks for seating, string lights along the walkways and stage, and a view of the river. The neon yellow was brought into the color palette to be a representation of the neon light produced by the lightening bugs that are heavy populated by the river. The client wanted an event logo that was inspired by the bluegrass music and the event’s signature roughly, handcrafted furniture. They also were reducing the price of the ticket this year to bring in more guests and wanted to be careful in the event campaign feeling luxurious. To meet this request, I provided a hand-lettered, emblem logo with a mix of weights and Old Tyme decor in the lightening bug neon yellow. The serif font is utilized to mimic the lettering of Ghost River Brewery’s labels, which is the event’s main sponsor each year. This event sold out and raised over $50,000 for the Greenway Soirée.
